I am very intrigued by Marci MacGuffie's intricate ink and watercolor work. I have always admired watercolor but for some reason her work seems to be much different. Her ability to display so many lines and directions and still be able to control it in the piece is fascinating. At first glance, I see a beautiful form, but if I study each mark inside the drawing I become overwhelmed and have to take a step back. She is similar to Salvador Dali in this way because the viewer might not know what is going on in the piece, but the artist has reason for every brush stroke.
MacGruffie speaks about chaos and order and natural patterns in the universe. Being able to convey that makes her a very influential artist for me and my future work.
